Digital Camera Wish

I take at least one photo a day and send it to Flickr.  Often that picture is taken from my cell phone, a Treo 650, and soon after sent to flickr via a special email address set up to accept photos and plop them into my photo stream.  Flickr then automatically adds my preset tags making them findable.  It is pretty slick and works very well with an Internet enabled phone.
The problem is that you end up being relegated to using whatever camera you have in your phone and while some phones with cameras take stellar pictures, you have very little control over the settings in the camera.  You sacrifice control for convenience/instant gratification.

Joost Beta

Today I received an email from the Joost Team to join the beta. They have created an OSX client but it has to be operated on an Intel based Mac.

Joost promises a combination of the TV experience and social networking. For example, live chat is available while you watch the content. It apparently uses a peer to peer scheme to stream content directly over a broadband connection using H.264.MPEG-4 AVC.

Installing the application was a snap. It was a quick download. It unzipped quickly. I pulled it into the Applications folder. Clicked twice on it and it launched immediately.

Grantmaking and Web 2.0

The business of grants is all about relationships.  Grantmaking networks are a variation on the social network.
Last week I was in Great Falls Montana and today I was in Salt Lake City.  In both cases I was intersecting with individuals who are interested in TourWest--WESTAF's grant program.

Qumana

Qumana is a online/offline blogging tool that allows you to post to multiple blogs in one fell swoop.  Given that I've been spending quite a bit of time since switching to Drupal crossposting to my old blogging site, http://imagespace.blogspot.com, I thought I would try this tool out.  Add to that, that it is common for me to write when I have no Internet access.  Rather than compose in Word and then cut and paste, this may end up being a better way for me to blog.

It includes a text editor, that looks an awful lot like TinyMCE.  It supports a ton of different blogging environments as well.

Tom Waits on Revver

Tom has released a video on Revver. This is theatrical, fun, and whimsical in a very dark way--what's with the emus Tom???
