Copenhagen Day 2

Today we slept in. I mean really slept in. I got up at about 11:00 but my daughter wasn't really out of bed until well after noon. We didn't get out of the hotel until close to 2 pm. Given that most stores close at about 6:00 pm it made for a short day. We went to central Copenhagen and mostly were looking for clothes. Our luggage still hasn't arrived--24 hours after we arrived in the city. We managed to pick up some essentials, but we are still short on shirts.

We wandered a little bit in central Copenhagen, ending up climbing to the top of the Round Tower. Unfortunately it was a rainy afternoon and we didn't much feel like hanging out at the top of a tower in the wet. A quick run around the circumference taking snaps and down we went. The tower has a little gallery space which currently houses some pretty interesting work from Africa. One piece, in particular, caught my fancy. It is called "The Bus Terminal" and reminds me of a Bruegel painting. Lots of little things were going on for lots of characters on the canvas.Round Tower

The day ended with us going to a small grocery and picking up cheese, smoked salmon, some veg, and a little beer. We headed back to the hotel and put together nice little sandwiches for dinner.

Pretty soon I'm going to hand wash some clothes again and head to bed. Perhaps I'll be able to get up a little earlier tomorrow and enjoy more of the day.
