Day 7 and 8 - WycombeSubmitted by matthew on Sun, 2007-08-12 21:33 |
We arrived in Wycombe by train yesterday. My Aunt and Uncle put together a little barbeque of chicken, pork chops, and sausages. We had green beans and potatos from the garden. We also had lettuce and tomatos that came from the garden too. It was a very nice meal.
After eating we got dressed for the theatre. Every year my uncle and aunt attend the local theatre's children's production at the Wycombe Swan. In this case it was the last night of Kiss Me Kate. The performers are between the ages of 8-18 and I must say were quite good for such a young cast. It seemed like there may have been over one hundred in the cast. I was please, because it gave a young group the chance to work with a proper orchestra in the pit.
We didn't get to bed until after mid-night.
Today we took it terrifically early. We woke up and had breakfast and hung out chatting. Then, after lunch, headed on a walk down to the Thames where we stopped at a pub and had little drink. The pub had a playground attached, so our daughter had the chance to muck around there. When we got back, my aunt had put together a marvelous dinner of fresh veg and lamb. They had pulled out a very nice bottle of red from Bordeaux. After dinner we had a nice black current ice cream that my aunt made with fresh raspberries from the garden. We enjoyed each other's company until about 10:30 when all felt it was time for bed.
It was a really nice, easy going day. Tomorrow we head to Edinburgh.
