I was asked a couple of days ago, "Why Drupal?  Why is it better?  What worth does free software have?"
I went to my colleagues and asked what they thought.  I *know* what I think.  I'm a convert, an evangelist, a bit (just a bit) of a zealot.  What I heard was this...
1) Drupal is open-source with a huge world-wide developer base.This means that vast resources are constantly being consumed, at no cost tothe Drupal user base, to support, improve, and keep secure the code set.2) Drupal is currently in version 5 after 6 years of development. It ishighly stable and extremely flexible.3) There are no license fees, ever.4) There is a clear upgrade path and the software upgrades are free.5) Drupal is highly scalable.Doesn't that sound good?  Especially number three?
