ping.fm and My Unused Blogger Blog

On August 6, 2004 I began blogging on blogger. On October 31, 2006 I began using this site. On April 18, 2007 I ceased using my Blogger account. I had been cross-posting between this site and Blogger using Qumana. Requirements from Google had changed for posting using a tool like Qumana and had become tired of maintaining both sites. The blogger site became fallow and wasn't used. Occasionally there was a comment or two on old posts and for whatever reason get traffic--not a lot, but some.

I use Twitter, Plurk, and Facebook and have taken to using ping.fm to update all three at the same time. Recently I added my blogger blog to the mix, essentially turning it into a microblogging or "tweet" site.

What's the point? I have found a qualitative difference between microblog streams and individual user streams. Some of the juxtapositions between microbloggers can be quite odd.

Individual streams give a sense of time that is more cohesive than an overall twitter stream that, to me, feels a bit like "channel surfing".

How do you use ping.fm to post to blogger? Simple, set up a blogger account through Google and a ping.fm account. Choose blogger from your main dashboard and enter your google username and password (note, you ARE putting your username and password into a third party site. I am not responsible for anything bad that might happen if you choose to do this.) After that, every time you choose to post using ping.fm, your post will end up on your blogger instance.

Useful? I'm not sure yet.
