Today is the Birthday of the United States. I hope all my friends and family living in the U.S. have a terrific day. This year we're spending the day in Kansas at my wife's Uncle Donald and Aunt Rilla's home. That side of the family come together that time of year to have a reunion. It is a wonderful way for cousins, aunts, uncles, sisters, brothers, mothers, fathers, and great grandmothers to get together. This year there will be four generations getting together.

The drive here had us going through some pretty astonishing weather including vertical rain. We found out after we arrived in Wichita that some of the roads on Colby (we passed through the town) had ended up under a foot of water. The traffic was by no means heavy - but it was still a good 9 hour trip with stops.

The Highlander Hybrid did a great job - we were astonished about how quiet the ride really is - comfortable and fuel efficient.
