Examiner.com, My New Work Home

Recently I wrote about my shift to a freelance footing. I've been taking little jobs by myself and with a small group of professionals off and on. I like the small jobs because they usually afford me the opportunity to help individuals or tiny organizations (often nonprofit) move onto a brand-new footing in Web technologies.

This journey has brought me to a distinctly not small client nor small job. I've joined the Examiner.com team and will help the company shepherd the Examiner site to Drupal.

Clarity Digital (the Examiner's Parent) acquired NowPublic several months ago and Mike Myers has become the company's CTO. The migration of the Examiner to Drupal will greatly benefit from the lessons learned in the creation and operation of NowPublic.

I'm looking forward to this challenge. I'm thoroughly enjoying my new colleagues. I hope that the work I've done over the last decade (both in Drupal and not in Drupal) is well leveraged in this effort. I know that I'm going to learn a ton over the course of this project as well.

I'm thrilled to be part of the team.

Sounds like a positive move ... congratulations

Thanks! I hope so. It is a different kind of company experience going from a smallish Drupal house to a largish company with roots in publishing.

a) you've got your work cut out for you, it's a huge site, b) I'm looking forward to something better than examiner.com's PubTool

Congratulations, Matthew! It's sure to be an exciting project.

Thanks Ezra!

rock on, mattew.
I love freelancing, but working in such a company is sure an alternative :)

Well, I'm a contractor - so technically I'm freelancing.

I tried freelancing for a while. Let me tell you, it's a lot harder than it seems. You have to really be determined to succeed and push yourself hard.
