Through WESTAF, I'm working on a project right now with the Denver Office of Cultural Affairs in which there will be some kind of blogging component. I'm not going to go into specific details of the project as elements are still being fleshed out. It will be a Web 2.0 style site with lots of community building tools.
In our conversations/brainstorms/planning, I was introduced to a site called Convinceme.net. ConvinceMe is a debate site in which a person shares a question, and then the community can chime in.
You can set up an Open Debate, Competitive Debate, or King of the Hill. After logging in, you can click on one of the debate types, give the debate a name, a category, topic and what each side will argue.
Tonight I am going to post the following debate:
I would rather go to...an Art Gallery or Watch 24
Side one will argue: The pleasure of seeing great art outweighs seeing a television show...besides I'll record it on my PVR.
Side two will argue: I can't wait for the new episode of 24 each week. The art gallery will still be around LONG past this episode.
You can follow (or contribute) to the debate HERE.
Who knows if it will generate any interest. It certainly is an interesting concept.
